Equestrian team successful in Clinton

On Saturday, Nov. 5 and Sunday, Nov. 6, the University of Montana Western Equestrian Team competed at the University of Montana Horse show in Clinton, Mont. The show consisted of two English shows on Saturday and one English show on Sunday. The competing teams included Carroll College, College of Southern Idaho, Montana State University, the University of Montana, Rocky Mountain College and Utah State University. The show consisted of two English shows on Saturday and one English show on Sunday. The competing teams included Carroll College, College of Southern Idaho, Montana State University, the University of Montana, Rocky Mountain College and Utah State University. The Results for the University of Montana Western riders are as follows: Saturday morning English show In walk trot, Bess Slicer started off the show by taking first place. Bree Boline took a third place in beginning walk trot canter and in advanced walk trot canter, Allison Pugh placed third and Gates Curry placed fifth. Jillian Archibald placed third in novice flat and Chelan Taylor took first place in novice over-fences class. In intermediate flat Section 1, Linda Sieverkropp placed first, Keiley Smith took third, and Bryne Kilgore placed fourth. Carissa Callison placed third and Caitlin Halliwell placed sixth in intermediate flat section 2. Sieverkropp also placed first in intermediate over-fences, while Callison placed third, Smith placed fourth and Halliwell placed sixth. Amanda Gelderman took fourth place in open flat and Brianna Hatt-Liebsch placed fifth. In open over-fences, Gelderman captured second place and Hatt-Liebsch placed third. Over all, the Montana Western equestrian team took reserve high point team while Sieverkropp tied for high point rider. Saturday afternoon English show Gelderman placed first in open over-fences while Hatt-Liebsch placed fourth. In open flat, Gelderman took second and Hatt-Liebsch placed third. Sieverkropp took third place and Halliwell placed fifth in intermediate over-fences. Halliwell placed fifth and Callison sixth in intermediate flat section 2. In intermediate flat section 1, Sieverkropp placed first, Smith placed fifth and Kilgore placed sixth. George Lawson took first place in advanced walk trot canter and Pugh placed sixth. Slicer ended the show with a first in walk trot. Gelderman earned high point rider in the afternoon show. Sunday morning English show Fifth place went to Slicer in the walk trot class and in walk trot canter, Boline placed second. Lawson took first in advanced walk trot canter and Pugh placed third. Taylor placed fourth in novice flat and Archibald placed fourth in novice over-fences section 1. Sieverkropp took first in intermediate flat section 1 and Kilgore took third. In intermediate flat section 2, Halliwell placed fifth. Halliwell took first place and Callison placed fourth in intermediate over-fences. In open flat, Hatt-Liebsch placed sixth and in open fences, Gelderman finished off the show winning first place. The University of Montana Western won high point team. Sieverkropp qualified for regionals in intermediate flat and Gelderman qualified for regionals in open jumping.
