Pettit named Frontier Conference Player of the Week

Hayley Pettit, a 6-foot-2 junior post player from the University of Montana Western, was named the Frontier Conference women’s Player of the Week Monday. It is the second time the Dillon, Mont. native has earned the honor this season. It is the second time the Dillon, Mont. native has earned the honor this season. Pettit led Montana Western to a split on the opening weekend of the Frontier Conference season. The Bulldogs upset fourth-ranked Lewis-Clark State 73-53 and lost to Westminster College 63-71. Pettit had double-doubles in points and rebounds in both games. It was the third straight game and seventh time this season she has accomplished the feat. Against L-C State Pettit scored 17 points and grabbed 18 rebounds and followed up with 19 points and 14 rebounds against Westminster. Pettit averaged 18 points, 16 rebounds and 2.5 steals on the weekend. She was 12 of 23 from the field (52 percent) and 12 of 16 (75 percent) from the free throw line. Also nominated: Haleigh Crnkovich of Rocky Mountain College, Kezia Ford of the University of Great Falls, Nikki Tresch of Montana State-Northern, Cydney Tibbitts of Westminster College and Kirsi Voshell of Lewis-Clark State.
