The University of Montana Western football coach B.J. Robertson has announced the signing of Bozeman, Mont., senior Wyatt Laakso to a Frontier Conference/NAIA letter of intent.
Laakso was the starting center for the state champion Bozeman Hawks. He is a 6’ 2” 225 pound offensive lineman who plays with intensity and determination. Wyatt had 95 career knockdowns and had better than half of those his senior year when he tallied 53. Laakso was selected as the 2013 first team all-state center as well as the first team all-conference center. His team voted him for the Hawk Best Lineman Award two years running following the 2011 and 2012 seasons. As a junior Wyatt was selected as an honorable mention all-conference player in 2012.
“We are very excited to add another state champion to the Bulldog football family,” said Coach Robertson. “Wyatt plays with tremendous explosiveness and tenacity on the offensive line. We love the thought of every offensive play starting in the hands of a guy with those innate traits.”
Wyatt plans to study business management while attending UMW. He is the son of Rod and Shelley Laakso.
The University of Montana Western has launched a national search for the provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs position.
