By Wally Feldt The University of Montana Western mens basketball team travels to Butte, Mont. to face Montana Tech in their final regular season game on Thursday, Feb. 26. Tip-off is at 8 p.m. The game will broadcast in southwest Montana on KDBM radio. Montana Tech has a record of eight wins and 19 losses in overall games and one win and 12 losses in conference games. When the two teams met in Jan. in Dillon, the Bulldogs downed Tech 84 to 76. Josh Monagle leads the Orediggers in scoring with 16 points per game. Dirk Anderson and Tony Trudnowski average 11 points per game. Monagle also leads the Orediggers in rebounds, averaging seven per game, followed by Anderson with five and Trudnowski with four. Monagle is fourth in the conference for field goal percentage (.468) and fourth for rebounds with seven. Stephen Thomas’ two steals per game places him fourth in the conference. Anderson is third for blocks, averaging 0.70 per game. The Orediggers average 70 points per game and give up 75 points on average. Montana Western hopes to end their season in the win column. After last week’s split weekend, the Bulldog record is 14 wins and 13 losses overall and seven wins and six losses in the Frontier conference. Chad Myers continues to lead the Bulldogs in scoring with 14 points per game, closely followed by JaRon Brown with 13 and Terry Hauser with 12 points per game. Garret Fink and Brandon Lawson lead the Bulldogs in rebounds with seven each. Myers is seventh in the NAIA for three-poit field goals made per game. Brown is second in the conference for blocks, averaging 0.74 per game. The Bulldogs lead the Frontier in scoring, averaging 84 points per game and in rebounds with 37 per game. This is the third meeting between the two schools this season. The Bulldogs downed Tech 87 to 76 in a non-conference game in Dec. but lost to the Diggers 51 to 56 in Dillon in conference action last month. The game will help determine the teams seeding for the upcoming conference tournament. The Orediggers are four wins and nine losses in conference play and seven wins and 16 losses overall this season. Jessie DePell leads Tech in scoring with 15 points per game. Jenessa Todd follows with 12 and Lindsie Wilson averages 10 points per game. Todd leads the team in rebounds with seven per game followed by Wilson with six and DePell averages four rebounds per game. Montana Tech scores 61 points per game and gives up 68 on average. Montana Western is three wins to 10 losses in the Frontier conference and seven wins and 20 losses overall this season. Alysa Brown leads the Bulldogs in scoring with 13 points per game, followed by Chloe Mosey with 12 and Jamie Lake with nine points per game. Mosey and Brown also lead the team in rebounds with seven and six per game respectively. Mosey is fourth in conference rebounds. Western scores an average 64 points per game and gives up 69.
