By Wally Feldt Levi Simon of Cardwell, Mont., a 6-foot point guard, has signed a Frontier Conference/NAIA letter of intent to play basketball at the University of Montana Western, according to head coach Steve Keller. Simon averaged 19 points, five assists, four rebounds and three steals in his senior season. He hit 54 percent of his field goals and 77 percent of his free throws. Simon earned first team all-conference and all-state honors. “I am excited that Levi is joining the Bulldog basketball program,” Keller said. “He was a four-year starter at Whitehall and improved every year. He was well coached and I feel he will be a very good point guard in the Frontier.” In addition to basketball, he also participated in cross country and track. In the classroom, Simon maintained a 3.85 grade point average. He earned academic all-state honors each year and was selected to the National Honor Society. Simon plans to major in education at Montana Western. He is the son of Ed and Jackie Simon and will graduate this spring from Whitehall High School.
