UMW News BureauRodeo teams from the Big Sky Region will be competing at the Beaverhead County Fairgrounds in the Montana Western fall rodeo. By Wally Feldt The University of Montana Western rodeo team is gearing up to host their annual fall rodeo Friday, Oct. 2 through Sunday, Oct. 4, 2009 at the Beaverhead County Fairgrounds. There is a 7 p.m. performance on Friday. The slack is Saturday at 9 a.m. followed by a 6 p.m. performance. The top ten in each event will compete on Sunday starting at 11 a.m. The men’s team leads the Big Sky Region after winning the Miles Community College (MCC) rodeo last weekend. Wyatt Smith, the reigning CNFR (College Nationals Finals Rodeo) champion in all-around and steer wrestling, leads the region in saddle bronc riding. The Bulldog women’s team took second at the MCC rodeo and are in second place in the regional standings. Montana Western cowgirl Bailee Jo Thompson leads the region in goat tying.
