Senior linebacker Chad Schira was named the co-defensive player of the year on the 2009 Frontier Conference all-conference football team released on Monday. Schira led the Frontier Conference in tackles this season with 112. He shares the honor with Carroll College linebacker Thomas Dolan.

Also earning first team honors were senior wide receiver Craigh Cornelius and junior defensive back Andy Roberts.

Earning second team honors were sophomore offensive tackle Justin Cossey, senior center Hone Roback, junior wide receiver Kahai Sevilla and sophomore nose tackle Penisoni Tuifua. Sevilla earned honors as both a wide receiver and a kick return specialist.

In addition to his all-conference honors, Chad Schira was just named to the 2009 AFCA (American Football Coaches Association) NAIA Coaches’ All-America Team.

The AFCA has selected an All-America team since 1945 and currently names teams in all five of its divisions. These are the only teams chosen exclusively by the coaches themselves.

Schira is the first Montana Western player to be selected to the AFCA team.
