Bulldog volleyball signs Ariel Johnson

Ariel Johnson, a 5-foot-11 outside hitter from Kalispell, Mont., signed a Frontier Conference/NAIA letter of intent to play volleyball for the University of Montana Western, head coach Katie Howells announced today. Johnson transfers from Dawson Community College. By Wally Feldt ArielJohnsonAriel Johnson, a 5-foot-11 outside hitter from Kalispell, Mont., signed a Frontier Conference/NAIA letter of intent to play volleyball for the University of Montana Western, head coach Katie Howells announced today. “We are glad that Ariel has decided to join our program this semester,” Howells said. “Ariel is a great student and she is exactly what we want in our program. She is willing to work hard and is a true competitor.” Johnson transfers from Dawson Community College of Glendive, Mont. She played in 94 games for the Lady Buccaneers and recorded 141 kills, 166 digs and 15 aces. “I like Montana Western because the school is big but not too big,” Johnson said. “The block scheduling really appealed to me and I get to play volleyball at a four-year school.” Johnson graduated in 2009 from Flathead High School and is deciding whether to major in secondary education or biology. She is the daughter of Tryg and Lynette Johnson.
