UMW News BureauGabe Rucker, a 6-foot-1 point guard from Bozeman, Mont., is the newest member of the 2010 Bulldogs men's basketball team. By Wally Feldt University of Montana Western men’s basketball coach Steve Keller announced the signing today of Gabe Rucker of Bozeman, Mont. to a Frontier Conference/NAIA letter of intent. Rucker is a 6-foot-1 point guard. In his senior high school season, he averaged eight points, four rebounds and eight assists per game. Rucker was also selected to play in the Montana-Wyoming all-star game. “We're excited Gabe will join the Bulldogs in the fall,” Keller said. “Gabe sat out last year and worked very hard on his game and is ready to play in a tough conference. He is a skilled point guard who is a great passer and ball handler and has improved his perimeter shooting immensely." Rucker excelled in the classroom as well, maintaining a 3.7 GPA and earning academic all-state honors in each of his four seasons at Bozeman. His coach at Bozeman High School was Wes Holmquist, a 2001 graduate of Montana Western. Rucker is a 2009 graduate from Bozeman High School and plans to major in business and biology. He is the son of Randy and Sharie Rucker. His sister, Gen, was a member of the Montana Western women’s program and graduated in 2009.
