By Wally Feldt The University of Montana Western equestrian team competed at Stanford University for English zones on April 10 and 11. Montana Western placed fourth out of 20 teams. Competing for the team, Amanda Gelderman placed fourth in open fences. In open flat, Gelderman placed second. Kristin Bredl placed third in intermediate fences. In intermediate open, Bredl also placed third. Linda Sieverkropp placed fourth in novice fences and Sieverkropp placed third. Kindle McCauley placed third in walk/trot/canter. In beginning walk/trot, Samantha Essig took second. Competing individually, Gelderman took second in open fences, hence qualifying for nationals. Gelderman took first in open flat, also qualifying for nationals in flat. Kristen Gfroerer placed fifth in intermediate fences. Amanda Stephenson participated in intermediate flat. Bredl placed third in novice fences. McCauley took first in beginning walk/trot, qualifying for nationals. The Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Nationals will be held at the Kentucky Horse Park, in Lexington, Ky. from May 6-10, 2010.
