UMW News BureauThe University of Montana Western rodeo team won top honors at the Dawson Community College College Rodeo April 23, 24 and 25. The men's team currently leads the region while the women are second heading to The University of Montana Rodeo May 7, 8 and 9 in Missoula. By Wally Feldt The University of Montana Western rodeo teams made the long trek to Dawson Community College in Glendive, Mont. this past weekend for their fourth rodeo of the spring season. Montana Western earned 750 team points and top honors for the weekend. Montana State University placed second for the weekend with 475 points. Montana Western’s Wyatt Smith helped his team to the lead with his all-around cowboy title, while Bailee Thompson won goat tying and Megan Crist won the breakaway roping to help secure the win for the women. Montana Western’s men’s team holds their steady lead within the region and will head to the College National Finals in Casper, Wyo. this summer. The women’s team is currently second in the region with one more chance to catch Montana State University’s women and claim first in the region at the University of Montana Rodeo May 7, 8 and 9 in Missoula.
