By Wally Feldt University of Montana Western head men’s basketball coach Steve Keller announced the signing of Jesse Meadearis, of Ismay, Mont., Connor Silliker of Whitefish, Mont., and Michael Speck of Clyde Park, Mont. to Frontier Conference/NAIA letters of intent. Medearis, a 2010 graduate of Baker, Mont., is a 6-foot-1 shooting guard. He averaged 11 points and six rebounds per game and earned first-team all-conference honors. Medearis also participated in football and earned all-conference and all-state honors. He maintained a 3.5 GPA and was selected to his school’s honor roll and received academic all-state honors. Medearis is the son of Bill and Judy Medearis and will major in pre-law. Silliker, a 2010 graduate of Whitefish High School, is a 6-foot-6 forward. He averaged 13 points and eight rebounds earning first-team all-conference honors. Silliker also participated in football and track. He earned second-team all-conference honors in football. Silliker maintained a 3.9 GPA, was selected to his school’s honor roll, and is a three-time academic all-state selection. He is the son of Chad and Andrea Silliker and will major in pre-law. Speck, a 2010 graduate of Shields Valley High School, is a 5-foot-5 guard. He earned second-team all-conference honors and was named to the all-tournament team of the Western C divisional tournament. He is the son of Shane and Lea Fairchild and will major in biology. “This is a good group of student-athletes with a lot of raw talent,” Keller said of his newest recruits. “It will be fun to watch them develop into good college-level players. They are all good students and will be good additions to not only our program but to the campus.”
