By Kaitlin Ens The University of Montana Western rodeo team continues to maintain a longtime tradition of regional and national success for the 2010/2011 academic year. In the last 10 years Montana Western has earned four national event titles and one all-around title. With five of 10 rodeos completed in the current season they rank regionally in all 10 events and nationally in six events, as well as being ranked regionally and nationally for both the men’s and women’s team standings. Montana Western’s rodeo team hopes to continue raising their standings during the spring season and make a good showing at the 2011 College National Finals in Casper, Wyo. “We’ve had a strong team for several years, but the core of that team graduated in May 2010 or have used their four years of eligibility,” Bulldog coach Iola Else explained. “We have a very young team right now, but they showed me immense promise during the fall season. We always hope to make it to the CNFR, and these kids have the drive to take us there again.” The first spring rodeo will be hosted by Montana State University on April 7 through April 10.
