By Brett Morehouse University of Montana Western head women’s basketball coach Cara Cocchiarella announced the signing of McCall Hasquet, a 5’11” forward from Missoula, Mont., to a Frontier Conference/NAIA letter of intent. “McCall is a great athlete who has yet to tap into all of her potential as a basketball player,” Cocchiarella said of her newest recruit. “She is an excellent student and her personality fits in well with the girls on the team. We are very excited to begin working with her. She is another recruit who comes from a great high school basketball program and is a tough competitor. Her length and athleticism will be great assets to Bulldog basketball.” Hasquet will graduate this spring from Sentinel High School in Missoula, Mont. In addition to carrying a 3.86 overall Grade Point Average, Hasquet is an active member in Key Club and the Honor Society. She has been recognized as an Academic All-State athlete in basketball three times, in track three times and and in cross-country once. Hasquet experienced success in several different sports during her career at Sentinel, lettering in cross-country, track and basketball. On the basketball court she was a three-year starter for the Class AA Spartans and helped guide them to three straight Class AA State Tournament appearances. At the state tournament Hasquet helped lead Sentinel to two fourth-place finishes as well as a State Runner-Up finish her senior year. Her individual play earned her All-Conference Honorable Mention recognition in 2010 and placed her on the Class AA State All-Tournament Honorable Mention teams in 2009 and 2011. Hasquet is the daughter of Pete and Doris Hasquet and plans to major in biology.
