UMW music professor holds album release party

Pictures him holding a guitarUniversity of Montana Western Associate Professor of Music Brent Poe McCabe recently released a classical guitar album entitled “Evocación.” McCabe will host a CD release party at the Bookstore in downtown Dillon on Thursday, Nov. 15 at 6 p.m.

The album features popular music from South America, Cuba and Spain, including compositions from João Pernambuco, Leo Brouwer, Isaac Albéniz, Antonio Lauro, Fernando Sor and Lou Harrison.

McCabe has taught in a variety of educational venues, from K-12 and community college to university instruction. He has served as choir and band director, supervised student teachers and has taught most courses within a collegiate music education program. He has also served as presenter and clinician at state and regional NAfME conferences and has authored “A Performer’s Guide and New Critical Edition of Frank Martin’s Quatre Pièces Brèves (Lambert).”

McCabe holds degrees from The Juilliard School (MM) and the University of Arizona (DMA). He has performed as a classical guitarist throughout the United States and abroad and has been a prizewinner in numerous national and international music competitions. “Evocación” is his third album.

The Bookstore will be selling autographed copies of “Evocación” and McCabe will perform live at the free public event.
