Kyle Erickson, a 6-foot-4 senior forward from the University of Montana Western Bulldogs, was named the Frontier Conference men’s basketball player of the week Monday. Erickson, a Broadview, Mont. native, helped lead the Bulldogs to two important conference victories last weekend in Dillon. Montana Western (6-1, 18-5) defeated Carroll College 78-67 Friday night and Rocky Mountain College 74-66 Saturday night to remain tied for first place in the conference standings. Against Carroll, Erickson scored 11 points, had 10 assists, nine rebounds, four blocked shots and two steals. Against Rocky, Erickson had 16 points, five rebounds, five assists, five blocked shots and three steals. His all-out hustle on both ends of the court was also instrumental in both Bulldog wins. For the weekend, Erickson averaged 13.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 7.5 assists, 4.5 blocks and 2.5 steals. Erickson also shot .588 (10-17) on field goal attempts, .143 (1-7) on three pointers and .750 (6-8) from the free throw line. Other players nominated: Donte Archie of Lewis-Clark State, Anthony Carter of Rocky Mountain, Andy Garland of Carroll College, Joe Simpson of Montana State-Northern, Marcel Townes of the University of Great Falls and Ben Walker of Westminster College.
