By Lowell Peterson University of Montana Western head men’s basketball coach Steve Keller announced Kurtis Parsons, a 6-foot-7 forward from Great Falls, Mont., is transferring to Montana Western from Rocky Mountain College. Parsons played in 27 games as a true freshman last year at Rocky. He averaged 5.0 points and 2.3 rebounds per game and made 34-103 (.330) three point shots. Parsons will red shirt next season at Montana Western and will have three years of eligibility remaining. “We are excited Kurtis decided to transfer from Rocky Mountain College,” Keller said. “Kurtis is a perfect four player with good size and athleticism and can shoot the three and rebound the basketball. Kurtis will use his red shirt year to improve on his game.” Parsons played basketball for head coach John Cislo at C. M. Russell High School (CMR) in Great Falls, Mont. In his senior year, he earned first team all-conference and all-state honors and averaged 12.1 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. As a junior, Parsons averaged 8.5 points and 4.8 rebounds per game and helped lead CMR to a Montana AA state championship. Parsons is the son of Kerry and Kelly Parsons and plans to major in education at Montana Western.
