Frontier Conference commissioner Kent Paulson announced the 2012 football all-conference teams over the weekend. Five University of Montana Western players received 2012 Second Team All-Conference honors.
The league’s coaches choose the teams.
Montana Western’s offensive selections included A.J. Smith, a 6’1” junior from Sandpoint, Idaho; Rashad Peniston a 6’ junior wide receiver from Graham, Wash.; and Nick Brown, a 6’1” offensive lineman from Spokane, Wash.
Smith is a tight end for the Bulldogs and ended the year with 34 total yards and averaged 8.5 yards per game. Peniston ended the year as the Bulldogs’ leading receiver with 713 total yards, averaging 71.3 yards per game.
Montana Western selections for the 2012 Second Team All-Conference Defense included Jesse McCloud, a 6’1” sophomore defensive back from Manhattan, Mont. and MacKenzie Crossley, a 6’ senior kicker from Smithfield, Utah.
McCloud ended the year leading Montana Western in interceptions with seven. He also ended the season tied for second on total tackles this year with 62, 41 of which were unassisted. Crossley was eight for 13 kicking on the year, which put him at an impressive 62 percent completion rate.
