UMW Concert Choir

Community members with an interest in singing are invited to join the UMW Concert Choir. The group performs a wide variety of traditional and more popular numbers in an easy-going, fun group environment. Time: Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the fall semester from 11:20 a.m. to 12:10 p.m. Location: Main Hall Room 415 Instructors: Bert and Gay Brewer Fee: $20

Bunco

Bunco will offer participants the opportunity to learn the popular dice game while meeting new people in an exciting, social atmosphere. Tech Savvy Series: Facebook

Participants will have the opportunity to safely and securely set up a Facebook account, add photos, connect with friends and family and learn how Facebook can be used as a marketing tool. Estate Planning Workshop

This seminar will consist of discussion, questions and a presentation of the best current estate planning ideas for individuals, families, business owners, farmers, ranchers and retirees. Tech Savvy Series: iTunes

Participants in the iTunes workshop will learn to download, install and begin to use iTunes on their personal computer. The course will cover how to search and subscribe to free audio and video podcasts covering education, famous speeches, news, science, health, medicine, business and more. Participants will also become familiar with iTunes Radio and iTunesU. Time: Monday, Nov. 7 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Location: STC Room 104 Instructor: Andrea Schurg Student limit: 20 Fee: $15

Tech Savvy Series: YouTube

The YouTube workshop will take participants beyond the popular viral video and explore the educational value of YouTube, including the Discovery, Science, Military and History channels. The workshop will also cover YouTube tutorials, viewing full-length high definition movies and television episodes and using KickYouTube to download videos without buffering pauses. Time: Wednesday, Nov. 9 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Location: STC Room 104 Instructor: Andrea Schurg Student limit: 20 Fee: $15

Advanced Costuming and Face Painting

Participants will learn how to develop a theme, access resources and complete a look with face painting. Makeup kits and a resource list are included in the course fee. Time: Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 4 and 5 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Location: Main Hall Rooms 218 and 118 Instructor: Ricki Jones Student limit: 12 couples Fee: $20 for one participant or $30 for couples.

Crochet: Scarf

Scarves will be the focus of the fall 2011 crochet class. Participants will begin with patterned squares and finish with a handmade gift for the holidays. Beginners through experienced crocheters are welcome. Time: Thursdays from Oct. 6 through Oct. 20, 7 to 9 p.m. Location: Main Hall Room 216 Instructor: Marlene Williams. Student limit: 8 Fee: $45

Mapping Your Retirement

This unique retirement planning class is designed for people who are five to 10 years from retirement. While retirement planning often focuses exclusively on finances, this hands-on seminar guides each participant through creating an individualized plan that covers lifestyle, health and financial aspects. This course was developed by Bemidji State University and the Northwest Technical College. Family Face Painting

Microsoft Excel

Students will learn to build spreadsheets by entering data and formulas and modifying sorting in Excel. This hands-on course will teach students to use Excel in the office or at home with positive and productive results. InDesign

This class covers Adobe’s popular publishing application. Students will prepare documents using formatting tools, set up page grids for precise document layout, control the use of images and utilize flexible master pages to aid in creating polished multi-page documents for print or PDF. Time: Wednesdays and Thursdays from Nov. 9-17 from 7 to 9 p.m. Location: Business & Technology Office Simulation Lab Instructor: Cory Creighton Student limit: 20 Fee: $40
