Sally Prasch, a visiting glass artist from Montague, Massachusetts, will present a public artist’s lecture on Thursday, November 8 at 5:00 p.m. in the Mary Baker Emerick Art Annex Lecture Room at Montana Western. With a background in both scientific glassblowing and fine art, she will be working with UMW students in class November 5-9.
Prasch got her start in the art of glassblowing at age 13 working as a part-time apprentice at the University of Nebraska. She received her BFA in Furnace Glassblowing and Ceramics from the University of Kansas. Upon graduating, Prasch started her own glassblowing business.
After receiving her Certificate in Scientific Glass Technology from Salem College in New Jersey, Prasch worked for AT&T doing large quartz work for the semiconductor industry. She continued her education by completing a degree in Applied Science from Salem College and went on to teach scientific glassblowing and the properties of glass to graduate students in Chemistry and Physics at the University of Massachusetts.
