Interlibrary loan is a service provided to obtain materials not available at the Carson Library. Materials necessary for study and research, are borrowed from other participating libraries. Books, multimedia, theses, music, and some materials reproduced in microform can be borrowed for the requester’s use. Photocopies of non-circulating materials, journal articles, and book chapters can be requested in accordance with copyright laws. All items are borrowed at the discretion of the lending library.
Place an Interlibrary Loan Request
How Interlibrary Loan Works:
All requests must be submitted online via ILLiad from the Library’s Interlibrary Loan page. For speed of delivery, accurate and complete bibliographic citations must be supplied. Incomplete citations are less likely to be fulfilled.
Patrons will be notified via email when their items have arrived and are available for pickup at the library’s circulation desk. Digital items will be delivered to the requestor’s email.
Loan Period:
The loan period is determined by the lending library and is usually between two to four weeks. A renewal should be requested only when absolutely necessary. Renewal requests may be placed via email to the Interlibrary Loan office and must be placed before the item becomes due. Patrons with overdue items cannot place new interlibrary loan requests. If late fees are assessed by the lending library for overdue items, the requester will pay the fees. Returning interlibrary loan items late may jeopardize the Carson Library’s borrowing privileges for all patrons.
