The 52nd Annual Montana Western Rodeo Banquet will be held on Friday, April 1st, 2022, at 5:30 p.m. in the Keltz Arena. This year’s “Friends of UMW Rodeo” honorees will be Race and Shelly King.
“Race King has been instrumental in supporting the Montana Western Rodeo Team for over 15 years. As Ranch and Practice Facilities Manager at the La Cense Ranch, he supported UMW student-athletes as they trained and practiced for each year’s rodeo season,” said Head Rodeo Coach, J.T. Robbins.
Currently, King is Ranch Manager at the Selkirk Division of Matador Ranch and Cattle Company where the Montana Western Rodeo Team is practicing for the upcoming spring season.
“The Kings have been instrumental in supporting our Rodeo Team. Race has supported the talents and pursuits of our student-athletes for many years. Shelly has served as the EMT at our home rodeos, and is passionate about supporting UMW. We couldn’t be more grateful for everything they’ve done for our students,” said Montana Western Head Rodeo Coach, J.T. Robbins. “We are excited to have the opportunity to have the Annual Rodeo Banquet this spring after two years of not being able to host it due to the pandemic; it means so much for the students and the community and is a large part of the Montana Western Rodeo Team experience.”
The first rodeo of the spring season will take place at Montana State University in Bozeman April 7-10th, 2022.
“I am proud of our team and how hard they have been working to prepare for the spring opening rodeo. We are excited to get the season started,” said Robbins.
The funds generated from the Rodeo Banquet help offset travel expenses during the regular season and CNFR. Additionally, banquet proceeds assist in providing scholarships for UMW rodeo student-athletes.
A limited number of tickets are still available and can be purchased by calling the University of Montana Western Foundation at 406-683-7306.
