U.S. News defines public regional colleges according to the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education and states these public schools run the gamut from small liberal arts colleges to large research institutions.
Montana Western also secured the 17th ranking for Best Regional Colleges in the West.
According to U.S. News, 64.1 percent of UMWs classes have less than 20 students. Montana Westerns student-faculty ratio is 17 to 1. The average freshmen retention rate, which is U.S. News says determines student satisfaction, is 73.2 percent.
