Montana Campus Compact (MTCC), a seventeen campus higher education network, will be honoring twelve student athletes, including Montana Western sophomore Samantha Hubbard, from across the state of Montana for their outstanding community service work at the November 18th Brawl of the Wild Football Game in Bozeman.
A cheerleader at the University of Montana Western, Hubbard is honored for her commitment to making Montana Western a better place. As a member of the ASUMW Student Senate, she planned much of the school’s homecoming festivities, serves on Montana Western’s Bulldog Mascot committee, and volunteers with the Dillon Jaycee Rodeo.
“Sami is sought after because of her ability to lead with kindness and compassion,” athletic director Russ Richardson said. “She does so sacrificially and never draws attention to herself but always honors and recognizes others. Through her service, she is developing a legacy of care that she hopes will eventually guide who she is and how she practices law, which is her long term goal.”
Sami’s coach used the following 3 words to describe her: Determined, dedicated, and motivated. As you can tell by those descriptors, she is an amazing young lady who is leaving an indelible mark in the community but more importantly in the individual lives of those she serves.
Hubbard also volunteers with the Beaverhead County Humane Society, the Montana Western Intramural program, and is a Sunday school teacher and worship leader at the Vineyard Christian Fellowship in Dillon, Mont.
A social sciences major, Hubbard plans on pursuing a law degree after graduating.
The MTCC Board and Governor Steve Bullock, who will be represented by Lieutenant Governor Mike Cooney, will present the exemplary college student athletes with MTCC’s Montana Athletes in Service Award.
For 25 years, Montana Campus Compact through its campus affiliates has supported students, faculty and communities across Montana with programs that encourage and recognize community service.
Montana Campus Compact and the State of Montana are proud to honor the athletes whose extensive volunteer efforts have been of great benefit to their communities.
