“On the Rocks” features longtime UMW employee.

April 20, 2016

“On the Rocks” is a lecture series presented by the environmental sciences department and the Montana Western Foundation.

Satterly’s talk, “Life and times in the Butte mines,” will include stories, singing and demonstrations.

Born and raised in Butte, Mont., Satterly spent a number of years working in the Leonard and Kelly mines. He comes from generations of Butte miners and incorporates the stories he’s compiled over the years into his talks.

Satterly has worked for Montana Western for the past 21 years in various capacities, most recently for the environmental sciences department.

In addition to his work at Montana Western, Satterly does regular volunteer appearances and has a long-running contract with the Montana Humanities Speakers Bureau.

The lecture begins at 3:45 p.m. in Montana Western’s Block Hall, room 311.

All “On the Rocks” presentations are free and open to the public.
