EXPERIENCE ONE EDUCATION from University Of Montana Western on Vimeo.
Tucked away in the Ruby Valley, Twin Bridges Elementary School opened its arms to Christina Schmidt for the most important class of her teacher preparation: student teaching. Christina learned about the art of teaching from a mentor, Ms. Amy Paden, who is herself a graduate of Montana Western. Christina stated, “I really love the block system. It allows me to focus on one subject at a time, so that instead of skimming over things, we really dive deep into what we’re learning. And it has really paid off in my student teaching experience.”
It felt like a family affair. Several UMW education graduates are employed in the Twin Bridges schools, and they welcomed Christina into the fold. Christina was regularly supervised by another mentor, an education department faculty member. Overall, the experience couldn’t have been more supportive and sustaining. Christina’s education degree from Montana Western was her stepping stone to a great future as a Montana educator.
