OneTwoFree launched in 2018 as a program funded by the Montana University System (MUS) to increase access to higher education for high school students, reduce education costs for Montana families, and enhance student success. The program offers two dual enrollment courses to all eligible students for FREE. OneTwoFree also allows students who demonstrate hardship to apply for a scholarship to cover tuition for additional Dual Enrollment courses
Your first two courses (up to 8 credits*) are free as part of the statewide OneTwoFree Program . After 8 credits, you will only pay half of normal tuition and all fees are waived. Montana Western has capped the Dual Enrollment fee at $50/credit. Course fees and textbooks may apply and are the financial responsibility of the student.
*Montana Western’s courses often default to 4-credits each. Montana’s OneTwoFree program allows up to 6 credits for two courses, Montana Western adjusts to include 8 credits for two courses.
Montana Western participates in Montana’s OneTwoFree program; your first two classes, up to 8 credits, will be free. But what happens after you have completed your first two classes? Through the OneTwoFree Program we have a tuition scholarship that can cover tuition above and beyond your first two classes.
To be eligible students must be a current high school or home school student AND enrolled in 100 or 200 level courses. Additionally, the student or someone in their household must be participating in one or more of these eligible government assistance programs:
