The University of Montana Western and the Dillon Public Library are pleased to invite the community to celebrate the 3rd Annual Japanese Festival in Western Montana with a series of events on May 2nd and 3rd, 2025.
Events and activities for all ages will take place throughout the city of Dillon, including at the University of Montana Western, Dillon Public Library, and many local businesses. This year’s event will feature performances of koto (Japanese harp) and taiko (Japanese drum), as well as a cultural table offering a variety of activities, all in one location. There will also be events throughout downtown, including a presentation by a renowned manga translator, a tea ceremony, a paper armor craft, and a samurai demonstration.
Performers and guest speakers will come from Seattle, Wyoming, and Japan. Nao Fukumoto, the Japan Outreach Initiative (JOI) coordinator, will also play a key role in bringing this event to life!
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the generous sponsors and contributors who have helped make this event possible. For more information, please email nao.fukumoto@umwestern.edu . Event passports will be available for pickup starting April 28th at the Dillon Public Library.
