In circumstances where no official campus policy is in place, the University of Montana Western will follow policy of the University of Montana.
In an effort to recognize the efforts and contributions of individuals, the University of Montana Western may propose the naming of campus buildings, portions of buildings, rooms, fixed furniture, and athletic or recreational fields in honor of those individuals.
The University of Montana Western has established a Space Allocation Committee, chaired by the Vice Chancellor for Administration & Finance, to oversee allocation of space in campus facilities to campus users.
Use and costs for use of campus facilities by any campus or off-campus group or organization is governed by this policy in conjunction with University of Montana Western (UMW) Policy 600.2 Space Allocation Policy.
Political campaigning and solicitation activities by non-campus organizations and/or persons may be responsibly conducted on University property subject to certain restrictions and the procedures listed below.
Students may form University-recognized partisan and/or issue-oriented groups for the purposes of political awareness and campaigning subject to certain restrictions.
The University of Montana Western complies with the Federal Copyright Act, which governs how copyrighted materials, such as movies, may be utilized publicly.
The University of Montana Western regulates vehicle registration and parking on its campus.
The University of Montana Western prohibits camping on University-owned or controlled property.
The University of Montana Western will provide and promote a safe and healthy environment to foster a positive atmosphere for learning and the educational process.
The University of Montana Western prohibits the possession and use of firearms, noxious chemicals, fireworks, and explosives on University-owned or controlled property.
The University of Montana Western prohibits the use of fire on University-owned or controlled property, except in pre-approved circumstances.
The University of Montana Western maintains control and accountability for the issue and return of all keys that allow access to university buildings. Facilities Services is responsible for administration of this policy.
Because of fire safety and health risks associated with the burning of candles and incense, The University
of Montana Western does not allow their indoor use in any campus building.
The purpose of the Video Surveillance Policy is to (1) set forth regulations regarding Montana Western’s use of Security Cameras on its campus; and (2) provide notice of such Video Surveillance to all persons who utilize Montana Western’s campus, including but not limited to, university personnel, students, and visitors.
